INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING PROJECTS
The international projects funded by the European Union at Shota Meskhia State Teaching University of Zugdidi are distinguished by their sustainability.
PRODIGE is a 3-year structural reform project that organizes the introduction of high-quality digital education (DE) in Georgia. The project was developed by the Ministry of Education and Science and Youth of Georgia, the National Quality Agency (NCEQE), and ten higher education institutions in Georgia.
The goal of ReGrow is to modernize and internationalize higher education in Georgia and Ukraine by creating a new joint course in agriculture. ReGROW supports socio-economic development, environmental sustainability and the digital transformation of the agricultural sector, promoting regional integration and cooperation in line with EU priorities such as the Green Deal.
RE-DIRECTION aims to create methodological framework and policy recommendations on digital transformation and implement innovative steps in the field of green competencies and methods and improve the existing approaches to inclusivity of migrants and IDPs.
VETPRO aims at developing the field of veterinary medicine in Georgia and its main objectives are as follows: Development of veterinary faculties and improvement of teaching quality in accordance with EU standards; Supporting veterinary continuing education by means of online open access courses; Supporting socio-economic sector by establishing connections between higher educational institutions and wider community.
Within Erasmus+ project E-PSY a Student Psychological Counseling centre was established; the European Week of Mental Health is celebrated every year; Trainings for the centre employee are conducted; study visits were conducted in EU member states and partner institutions shared their experience. Memorandums of Understanding were signed with several organizations operating in the region.
Within Erasmus+ project RURD in cooperation with EU partners, the role of regional higher educational institutions of Georgia in the development of regions was strengthened, the missions of universities and the strategic development plans were modernized, as well as cooperation between universities and local authorities was strengthened, taking into account the specifics of each region.
Within Erasmus+ project INTEGRITY a culture of academic integrity was introduced to prevent plagiarism. Since 2019, Shota Meskhia State Teaching University of Zugdidi ensures the functioning of the plagiarism detection software Turnitin. Within Erasmus+ project STAR (Sustainable Learner-Centered Teaching _ Advanced Resource for Georgia and China), equipment was purchased in accordance with the project goals. “Learner-Centered Teaching Manual” was developed in Georgian and English languages and it is used as additional literature in approximately 7 syllabus of teacher training programs. Within Erasmus+ project DARE Student Service Centre/ “Life-Long Learning (Student Service-Centre) Centre” was established as well as laboratory for student services equipped with audio and video materials. It is oriented toward students with special needs (physically and mentally), students with kids (university provided a special room for kids according to standards of kindergarten), minorities (special study programmes, timetables and electronic lectures for IDPs). E-learning (blended) method was developed. An e-lecture course was developed and approved.
Within the project PICASA (Promoting Internationalization of HEIs in Eastern Neighborhood Countries through Cultural and Structural Adaptations), the Foreign Language Learning Center (FLLC) was established. Free English lessons are conducted for academic and administrative staff. As part of the project, an “Internationalization Guidebook” and an English-language learning course were prepared. PICASA
